Ticker symbol
The short code under which a security trades on a particular venue.

A ticker identifies a listing, not a company. The same issuer can have several tickers for different share classes, different tickers on different exchanges, and a ticker that another company inherits years after the first one delists.
That reuse is the reason tickers are used here for navigation and never as a database key. Company pages are addressed by ticker because it is what people type, but records are joined on the identifiers that do not move: CIK for filers, CUSIP for securities held by funds.
If a ticker on this site resolves to a company you did not expect, check the CIK on the company page before concluding anything about the data.
